Tyler Sipe is a recent graduate of UC Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism where he studied multimedia and radio journalism. He is currently interning for The New York Times in Tokyo. Sipe has freelanced for The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, BBC’s The World, The Detroit News and more. Prior to moving to the Bay Area, he worked as a photojournalist at the Traverse City Record-Eagle in northwest Michigan. Sipe focused on photo stories including the areas’ small migrant community, the local fishing industry and an eccentric vegetarian, body-building grandmother. Sipe graduated from Michigan State University in 2005, earning a bachelors degree in journalism. He is a native of Seattle, but has also lived in Alaska, Texas and Utah.
